Advent Sermon Series

The start of the Christmas season confronts us with all sorts of lines: lines at the cash register, lines of lights, lines to see Santa, lines in Christmas plays. The most important line of Christmas is the line of hope and promise that leads from the Fall in the Garden to the birth of God’s Son at Christmas. Our sermon series this Advent season follows this line of promise under the theme, “Your Hope Is in the Son.” Our schedule is as follows:

Nov 27 - “The Son of the Woman: Hope for the Hopeless
Dec 4 - “The Son of Abraham: Hope for the Homeless”
Dec 11 - “The Son of David: Hope for the Oppressed”
Dec 18 - “The Son of the Virgin: Hope for the Doubting”
Dec 24 - “The Son of Mary: Hope for the Humble”
Dec 25 - “The Son of God: Hope for the Enslaved”

In the cynicism and despair of our current cultural moment, we need to hear this message of hope afresh. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can often lead to frustration and desperation rather than hope. Join us as we are reminded that the true joy of Christmas is not in lights and sounds and presents and parties, but in the True Son, the Savior, whose birth all these things ought to celebrate. May your hope and joy increase as you look more carefully to the line of Christ’s coming into this world.
